Employment - Valley Financial Coorporation

Insurance and Financial Services – Arizona

Are you entertaining the thought of getting your insurance license and starting a “new job” selling insurance? If the answer is yes, this might not be the path for you and your future.

Selling insurance is not a “job.” A job is an income earning process that has a start time, a stop time, and specific days off which include vacation and sick days. Selling insurance is a career that operates virtually 24/7 including holidays and weekends. You must first have the desire to help people secure their lives, and that should be the primary goal in your career, not the money. When your primary concern is people’s welfare, both present, immediate future, and long range future, the money will follow by itself.

The second thing that you will need is the personality to perform the function of speaking with people, showing your concern, and not being afraid to bring the subject of insurance up in a conversation, especially if you are capable of initiating the conversation.

The third thing that you need is the ability to “get up and go” on your own, which some people refer to as a “self starter.” You will see your “boss” every morning, 7 days a week…in the mirror. If you don’t have the “chutzpa” to put yourself in gear every day, keeping prospecting/networking on your mind nearly every waking minute, then perhaps you should rethink your decision to enter this career.

The fourth and final item that you need is, for all practical purposes, the most important…and that is an upbeat, bright, outgoing, happy ATTITUDE. Attitude is the single most important character trait in your life, let alone your career. Just think of your own day to day life and all the attitudes you see. Think of how they make you feel whether it be a friend, neighbor, store employee, mechanic, salesman, teacher, boss, or your significant other. Attitude is one of the biggest things that separate successful people from those that struggle in day to day life.

Assuming that you have all these traits, your next step is getting your license(s). An insurance license gives you the opportunity to use a multitude of products and tools that can suit most everyone. A lot of Life Insurance policies should virtually be referred to as “Living Insurance” in that they provide so much for the policy owner while they are alive and go through life.

Once you’ve filled the qualifications of everything mentioned, all you need now is the “stick ability”, i.e.: the determination to keep your positive attitude and make yourself get “stuck in drive” to keep going forward. Starting a new career is never easy, but those that put the time and effort in are greatly rewarded.
